6 Super Smooth Job Hunting Tips - James Bond Style
6 Super Smooth Job Hunting Tips - James Bond Style When youre still in a job, but plotting your exit, a level of discretion is required to ensure that your boss doesnt twig that youre looking to jump ship. From applying for jobs on the sly, to sneaking out of the office to attend interviews, you could say that your job search is somewhat of a secret mission. Now where could we possibly seek some inspiration from there? Theres a little known MI6 agent who goes by the name of BondJames Bond in fact.so I guess we could start there. Here are 6 super smooth job hunting tips 007 style that will ensure your job hunt remains top secret! 1. Stay below the radar Ok, subtlety isnt always Bonds strong suit. Nor is taking other peoples advice for that matter. So for this point, I want you to get in the mindset of a special agent who goes a little more by the book! Maybe M? If you are currently in employment, youre most likely keeping your job search under wraps for the time being. You wouldnt march into your bosss office and start scattering around your recently updated resume and a selection of cover letters, would you? So why should posting them on a job board be any different? When you share your resume on a job board, you are essentially advertising the fact that you are looking for a new job and therefore you have just as much chance of your boss coming across it as another potential employer! A lot of employers will actually check job boards from time to time to suss out whether any of their staff appear in their searches; so be sensible! 2) Know your enemies Be careful who you tell about your job search. Even if you think you can trust someone, its probably best to refrain from discussing it with colleagues, as you never know when they could let it slip! Its a dog-eat-dog world after all and even somebody who youve struck up a friendship with could break their loyalty if it could benefit their career in some way. If you want to contact people within your network to scope opportunities thats fine, just make sure you tell them to keep mum about it, so they dont blow your cover! 3) Dont use your work email or computer Need I say more? Lots of companies have access to their employees email accounts and computers. Some may even actively monitor who their staff are in contact with and what they are doing whilst at work. So if you use your work email to apply for a new job, you may as well be sending it directly to your current employer. Instead, make sure that you have created a separate (professional) email address and use this for all communication to do with your job hunt. 4) Plan your escape Its common in your job search that you will be invited for an interview on short notice, so youve got to be able to come up with an excuse to escape from work for a bit without setting off alarm bells in your bosses mind. If you come out with one of the generic excuses like a doctors appointment or a family emergency its likely that your boss may become suspicious; however, the more creative you are the less likely it is that they will question it. 5) Use all the latest tools and gadgets available to you No, Im not talking exploding pens or facial recognition gadgets. Think more along the lines of mobile apps and social media. Just because youre wary of revealing your job hunt, doesnt mean that you should avoid social media altogether. Though you should steer clear of posting your resume or being too obvious about connecting with recruiters, etc.; you can still use online networks to keep an eye open for current job vacancies, get involved in industry-related discussions and direct message people about opportunities. 6) Turn on the charm Theres no doubt that Bond knows how to charm people and it is a powerful tool for persuasion. A large factor in your job search is coming across as likable in your interview, as people want to hire people that they feel they can get along with and will fit in with the team. Turn the charm on and Im sure youll land a job in no time.

Five Tips to Modernizing Your Office
Five Tips to Modernizing Your Office Modernizing your office wonât just improve its appeal, but can also help promote your employeeâs productivity. It can help unlock your workersâ highest potential and thus improving your business productivity. Converting the interior of your office into a modern space gives it life, making it more interesting and motivating. Interior decoration can reinvigorate your office, hence spurring business growth. Moreover, modernizing your office increases its value and worth in the eyes of your employees and clients. Here are top 5 ways to modernizing your office: Paint the Walls in a Neutral Color Adding color to your office walls is a great way to give your space life. Modern interiors are sleek and crisp with fine, white lines. Paint your walls in white or gray. However, since neutral colors tend to be boring, you can spruce up one of your office walls with a bright color to make your space more vibrant and lively. Soundproof Your Office A modern office is quiet and offers privacy to your employees to minimize distractions. With the acoustical benefits that come with sound-proofed offices, your employees get to focus on their work and get motivated to work even harder at their jobs. Although this trend is popular with modern buildings, itâs a perfect way to modernize your old office. Modern Furniture Another way to modernize your office is to add modern furniture into your space. Modern furniture is sleek, trendy and supports versatile use. Consider standing tables, ergonomic office chairs and recessed storage solutions to ensure your office has enough open spaces to allow free movement. Modern interiors are minimalist, meaning it should be as simple as possible only with the furniture you need. Consider window-mounted or floating desks to help your employees work while standing instead of sitting the whole day and impairing their health. Create an Open Space Add More Natural Light Modern office spaces are open. Open design offices reduce employee misconduct and improve their morale to work hard at their jobs. Employees are less likely to spend most of their time on social media sites when working in open workspaces than if they work from private spaces. Knock down your cubicle walls to create an open workspace with a modern touch. Add more windows in your office to bring in more natural light. Modern interiors arenât just open, but also properly lit. The windows also allow more fresh air to flow into your offices, keeping your workers energized to get their work done. Consider installing skylights to bring in even more light during the day. Invest in Technology Technology is an important aspect of modern spaces and offices havenât been left out. Invest in big displays for online video conferences, tablet docking stations and several tabletop grommets, among others technologies to help your workers get their jobs done faster and more effectively. Millennial workers love working in tech-savvy offices. Even desks have been updated with new technology. You can get floating desk designed to be mounted to a window, or a desk that can be adjusted to fit your height or used standing up. Despite the size of your office, you can easily modernize it for an improved aesthetic appeal and better functionality, not to mention heightened employee morale and thus productivity.

10 Ways to Be Better, Not Bitter Through Deep Challenge - Kathy Caprino
10 Ways to Be Better, Not Bitter Through Deep Challenge Working as a therapist and career coach over these past eight years, Iâve seen what life can do to people. Iâve observed deep trauma and crisis, such as when a beloved spouse abandons his/her family for another lover, exclaiming to the marital partner of 20 years, âIâm sorry, but I never loved you.â Iâve seen drug addiction and alcoholism ruin peoples futures. Iâve witnessed cruelty, obsession, abuse, and despair, and watched uncontrolled midlife crisis wreak havoc on families. And Ive watched these harsh economic times bring men and women to their knees. All through it, Iâve seen people broken by their despair, as well as those who have risen above â" whoâve become better, not bitter. How do some people turn their crises into fuel for positive change, while others become angry, resentful, victimized, and hopeless â" beaten by their challenges? There are 10 traits Iâve observed in those who find a way to be better, not bitter, after tribulation and crisis. These 10 traits are: 1. They remain accountable. They realize their part in whatâs happened to them, and donât play the victim game. 2. They are optimistic. Despite whatâs happened, they hold tight to a hope for a brighter future. 3. They are well-boundaried. They know where they begin, and others end. They keep compassion alive in their hearts, despite whatâs happening around them, and they tune out the negativity, gossip and cruel judgments others throw at them. 4. They ask for help. They reach out for support when they need it, and they get it. 5. They find lessons in their challenges. They seek to learn and grow from all their experiences, and refuse to be broken by them. 6. They avoid self-hatred and self-reproach. They know theyâve made some big mistakes â" and admit them full out but find a way to be self-accepting and forgiving through it all. 7. They revise their negative behaviors. They understand that repeating the same negative behaviors and expecting a different outcome is the definition of insanity. They change their ways. 8. They let go of the need to control. They have an ability to bend and be flexible, and go with the flow of what life gives them. They donât break themselves against what comes their way. 9. They see a bigger picture than what is before them. Despite how bleak the moment may appear, they have a deep sense of connection to the world and to life, and they sense that thereâs a bigger picture unfolding than what meets the eye. 10. They have the courage to embrace change. As scary as change can be, they embrace it and accept that it is within change that expansion and a richer, more satisfying life lies. If youâve faced tremendous challenges these past several years but want to be better, not bitter, take a look at these traits, and examine the degree to which these match your behaviors. The closer you come to embracing these traits, the freer youâll be from the sadness, regret, and limitations of your past. Youâll let go of what isnât working, and youâll co-create a new future that is more joyful and rewarding than you ever imagined. Are you stuck in bitter, or flowing towards better?
